JERSEY RFC Women extended their lead at the top of the Women鈥檚 NC 2 South East League to 16 points over the chasing pack with an excellent away performance to beat Crawley Ladies 24-0.

Conditions were poor to say the least, with a waterlogged pitch, but coach Simon Le Moignan pronounced himself 鈥渧ery impressed鈥 with how his team coped with the conditions.

He said: 鈥淚t was an excellent win. The girls did really well and I鈥檓 very proud of the performance.

鈥淭heir attitude was outstanding and, considering the difficult conditions we faced, I thought we managed the game excellently.

鈥淲e played good, solid rugby and I think we used our rugby IQ to outsmart Crawley.

鈥淒efence wins you matches and I don鈥檛 think they even got into our half all game.

鈥淲ith a horrible, slippery ball and a sloped, boggy pitch to contend with, we controlled possession well and thoroughly deserved our win.鈥

Co-vice captain Ashling Magner was named back of the match after another superb outing at scrum-half. 鈥淲e鈥檙e delighted to get another win under our belt,鈥 she said.

鈥淲e took a lot of work-ons from the Seaford game and implemented them really well in this game.

鈥淟aura Turpin controlled the game beautifully from fly-half and Kim Hacquoil made some try-saving tackles at full-back.

鈥淐onditions were really tough, but they were tough for both teams. We had to hit hard, especially in the scrums, but we dominated throughout and we want to keep this momentum up for the remaining games of the season.鈥

Magner鈥檚 co-vice captain, Abbie Syvret, followed on and said: 鈥淭o keep them pointless at home with the top scorer in the league on their team, it was an amazing defensive performance.

鈥淲e adapted our game well and showed good versatility in our output and decision-making.

鈥淲e鈥檝e been training hard defensively and it really showed in this game.

The team have embraced every moment playing at CoinShares Park and, with a run of games in 色人阁 to follow, Le Moignan concluded: 鈥淲e have four games left now, three of them at home which we鈥檙e really excited for.

鈥淭he next two matches are home ties for us, and I think if we can get two wins from those then we鈥檒l be in a brilliant position to take the league title.

鈥淭he girls have worked so incredibly hard this season. They set the league crown as their target and to be so close is exciting and the girls thoroughly deserve to be in this position.

鈥淲e still have a job to do, but we鈥檙e edging closer every week.鈥
