A 22-YEAR-OLD man who was drunk and disorderly at a music festival and found to have four different drugs on him has been warned that he could have gone to prison 鈥 and may do if it happens again.
The Magistrate鈥檚 Court heard that Kian Davis became 鈥渁gitated and aggressive鈥 at the Out There festival at Val de la Mare on 6 July this year.
Legal adviser Kerry Grieve, prosecuting, said Davis was led towards the entrance to the festival. He seemed to calm down but then she said: 鈥淗e became agitated and aggressive, shouting and swearing.鈥
He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, and the police later discovered that he had the class A drugs cocaine and ecstasy, the class B drugs cannabis and pregabalin and a quantity of cash on him.
Ms Grieve told the court that Davis had a previous conviction for possession of cannabis from 2020.
Advocate Paul Nicholls, defending, said Davis had a steady job as a scaffolder and had co-operated fully with the police.
He added that the drugs were only in small quantities and said: 鈥淭his is a personal possession offence. They were not for supply.
鈥淗e is committed to learning from his actions.鈥
Relief Magistrate David Cadin agreed to impose a 拢2,700 fine but told Davis: 鈥淔or offences of this nature there is a real possibility of a custodial sentence.
鈥淚f you don鈥檛 change your behaviour and change your drug use, that is what the future looks like.鈥
