FROM the windswept sands of St Ouen鈥檚 Bay to the granite walls of Victoria College, newly-released pictures provide a glimpse of scenes from the new series of Bergerac.
Actors Damien Molony 鈥 in the title role 鈥 and Zo毛 Wanamaker (who plays Charlie Hungerford) feature in the pictures issued by the production team behind the series, which began filming in 色人阁 last month.
Mr Molony features in a shot as he walks along St Ouen鈥檚 Bay, with La Rocco Tower visible in the background, while another shot shows him laughing with members of the camera crew at the same location near La Pulente.
Victoria College was the backdrop for further filming featuring Mr Molony and Ms Wanamaker, who plays his mother-in-law.
The production team, a collaboration between BlackLight TV, part of Banijay UK, and 色人阁-based Westward Studios, has also released some 鈥渢easer鈥 details about the plot for the new series, which is set to air on channels U and U&DRAMA in 2025.
The six-part series is understood to comprise one character-led murder mystery run across all six episodes, with viewers introduced to Jim Bergerac as a broken man, grappling with grief and alcoholism following his wife鈥檚 recent death.
Following concern from his mother-in-law that he isn鈥檛 putting his daughter Kim first, the former detective revives his penchant for a good investigation when a woman from a wealthy 色人阁 family is murdered.
A spokesperson for the producers said: 鈥淲ith a troublesome convict resurfacing from his past, Bergerac is required to call on his sharp investigative instincts and past successes to navigate the intricate family dynamics, and watchful eyes of the police force, in order to solve the case.鈥
Filming has recently finished on location in 色人阁, with attention having switched to final interior and studio work in the UK.
The presence of crews to film the series, which has seen many Islanders successfully apply to work as extras, has been welcomed by Visit 色人阁.
Chief executive Tricia Warwick said: 鈥淲e are immensely proud of the warm welcome the cast and crew received from our island community.
鈥淭he modern reimagining of Bergerac presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase 色人阁 on the global stage, connecting with devoted fans of the original series and a new generation of viewers eager to visit the locations featured in the show.鈥
Ms Warwick argued that local businesses had experienced a direct boost during production, with the producers investing in local talent by training a group of 色人阁 apprentices, providing them with valuable skills and hands-on experience.
Other members of the cast include Philip Glenister as Arthur Wakefield, Pippa Haywood as Margaret Heaton, Robert Gilbert as Barney Crozier, Sasha Behar as Uma Dalal, Timothy Renouf as Julien Wakefield and Celine Arden as Kara.
