FLYING high above 色人阁 in a two-seater Spitfire sounds like a priceless experience…
But for 拢3,500, Islanders will soon be able to strap into the rear cockpit of one of the iconic Second World War fighter planes.
For the first time, Spitfires.com, which usually operates out of the Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex, is bringing its operation to the Channel Islands.
Coinciding with worldwide celebrations of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the rides will be on offer from 8 to 14 June.
And the organisation said that subject to demand, they hoped to base one of their Spitfires at 色人阁 Airport every year.
A statement from the company said: 鈥淭his will be the first time ever that Spitfire flight experiences have been offered from 色人阁 and we are extremely excited about working with the Crown Dependency to bring our iconic aircraft to this picturesque island that is steeped in so much history.鈥
A hand-picked cadre of pilots will command the Spitfire from the front seat, with passengers strapped into the rear in their own cockpit, which is kitted out with a full set of controls.
There will even be the opportunity for Islanders to take the controls and fly this legendary aircraft for a short time themselves.
